在国家能源局 recently held press conference, officials shared updates on the nation's energy sector developments. According to邢翼腾, Deputy Director of the Strategic Planning Department, the country has maintained sufficient energy supply this year, with a balanced supply-demand relationship and continuous optimization of energy structure. Significant progress has been made in building a new energy system.
The rapid growth of renewable energy installations has been notable. Following March's milestone where wind and solar capacity surpassed fossil fuel-based power generation, non-fossil energy now accounts for over 60% of total power installation by May. The first half of this year saw an impressive doubling of新增 wind and solar capacity compared to the same period last year.
Renewable energy continues to dominate new installations, contributing nearly 91.5% of all additions in the first half. Solar alone made up about 80%, according to最新 statistics. These figures underscore the central role renewable energy plays in shaping China's power mix.
The data highlights significant increases across all renewable sources: hydropower grew by 393 million kilowatts, wind energy by 51.4 billion kilowatts, solar by 21.2 billion kilowatts, and biomass by 71 million kilowatts in the first half of the year.
Cumulative renewable installations reached 21.59 billion kilowatts by June, marking a 30.6% increase from last year and accounting for nearly 59.2% of total national capacity. Solar alone now represents almost a third of this total.
The development of distributed energy systems has also been gaining momentum, supported by the growth of green certificate markets. By June, 89.27 million green certificates had been issued to distributed projects, with over 13.71 billion certificates issued in the first half of the year alone. The tradable portion reached 958 million, reflecting strong market interest.
Green certificate prices have seen a positive trend this year, increasing from an average of 5 yuan in January to 6.5 yuan by June, marking a fourfold increase compared to earlier lows. This upward movement reflects growing recognition of renewable energy's environmental value.
However, challenges remain. With millions of distributed projects nationwide, the coverage rate for green certificate issuance needs improvement. To address this, pilot programs have been initiated in Zhejiang, Henan, and Guangdong provinces, aiming to refine the process before expanding it nationally.
The year 2025 is seen as a pivotal moment for新型储能 technology development. Leaders at the National Energy Administration emphasize the need to enhance innovation and improve management systems. Plans are underway to strengthen overall planning and advance implementation strategies for新型储能 technologies. Officials also highlighted the importance of balancing technological breakthroughs with sustainable industrial growth.
These efforts aim to ensure the country remains on track to meet its renewable energy targets, while fostering a more sustainable and efficient energy future.
